Phil’s Reviews — Stuff I Bought #189

Knights of the Dinner Table #170 — Creators: Jolly Blackburn, Steve Johansson, David Kenzer and Brian Jelke I have nothing new to say about this comic, except that I still like it — but if you didn’t see Community this week, go to your cable box and its “On Demand” channel, and see it right now: the gang play Advanced D&D, with Abed as DM and Pierce as scorned, gleeful personification of evil (Chevy Chase does his best work of the series), and it’s… just perfect; you can tell the creators spent a lot of their high school time with twenty-sided … Continue reading

It Came From the Back Room #13

Standard recap: I’m slowly going through AABC’s one-million-plus back-issue room, restocking the boxes on the sales floor and pulling stuff to sell as discount/overstock/special items. This week, I’ve managed to finish “M” and get started on “L.” As it turns out, there are no Marvel “L” regular series (well, Logan’s Run, which lasted seven issues, but that’s under “Marvel Movie and TV Tie-ins”), so it’s all indy and DC titles for the time being. … Continue reading

The Latest and (Mostly) Greatest #2 by Dan!

After some much needed post-San Diego Comic-Con rest, I’m back for a HUGE week of comics.  Lots to talk about, and plenty to say, so here we go! My Top Five (The Five Best Comics of the Week) Time Lincoln: Fists of Fuhrer #1 Writer/Artist: Fred Perry I cannot stress this enough: Time Lincoln is awesome.  If you have any problems with Abraham Lincoln firing a laser gun at winged nazis to help get Ben Franklin to save Albert Einstein, then we can’t be friends.  To think that this is one guy doing all the work (both story and art) is … Continue reading
