The Latest and (Mostly) Greatest #74 by Dan!
All right folks, lots of stuff this week, so let’s do this! Age of Ultron #8 Writer: Brian Bendis Artist: Brandon Peterson I just can’t get into this. I can’t explain why, I’m a huge fan of time travel, I love the high-concept stories, and I want to like the entire idea behind this, but it just feels like Bendis is trying to push a redone version of House of M at us, and I can’t get into it. Add the fact that Peterson seems wickedly rushed making his faces look crazy, and that everything has been building to a … Continue reading

All right folks, this week I’m going to try to talk about a couple books I haven’t really said much about. Here’s hoping it won’t become a rambling mess. But don’t worry, I’ll still complain about Captain America near the end. Let’s do this! Cable and X-Force #6 Writer: Dennis Hopeless Artist: Salvador Larroca This book started a bit slowly, but seems to have really figured itself out. Most recently, Colossus had turned himself in after all that stuff with the Phoenix Force, so now the team hopes to break him out… or do they? Hopeless has put together a … Continue reading

All right folks, it’s been a long week, but reviews are here for your viewing pleasure! Let’s do this! Daredevil #18 Writer: Mark Waid Artist: Chris Samnee Month in and month out, Daredevil continues to be one of the best reads on the stands. I was worried when Marcos Martin left the book, but how can you not love Chris Samnee? Waid has transitioned this book from a basic superhero story to some kind of mental mystery. After Daredevil took a ton of abuse in the 90s and 2000s, Waid has pretty much turned his story into a psychological analysis … Continue reading

What’s this?! Two weeks in a row!? How dare I… Yup that’s right, Phil’s out this week, so you’re getting a good-ol’ fashioned double-dose of Dan. Let’s do this! Fury Max #2 Writer: Garth Ennis Artist: Goran Parlov Hey! Remember all those reasons you like Garth Ennis comics? And remember how you think when he resorts to fart jokes you find yourself just a little disappointed cuz’ you know he can do better? Well, this right here is where he does better. It’s Ennis telling a straight-up war story, with Nick Fury acting as any of a million different war characters you’ve … Continue reading

Another day another dollar, and there are lots of dollars worth of comics that came out this week. So let’s do this! Batman #7 Writer: Scott Snyder Artist: Greg Capullo This is the best comic of the DC reboot. It’s moving along at it’s own pace; it’s doing it’s own thing, and it’s completely accessible to a new reader. Oh!… and it’s totally awesome! This story seems to be crafted out of the previous Gates of Gotham series, but you don’t even have to read that to understand what’s going on. There’s a section that is almost exactly the same … Continue reading
