All right folks, amidst packing for a California trip, watching way too much of The Shield, and playing too many video games, I’ve taken time out of my busy schedule to get these reviews to you. You’re welcome! Let’s do this! My Top 5 (5 Best Comics of the Week) Tiny Titans #40 Writer/Artist: Art Baltazar and Franco So here’s the deal. The current Teen Titans series isn’t very good, and it’s almost reached 100 issues. This series has only 40% of that right now and probably 40 times as much quality. My Top Five (The Five Best Comics of the Week) Dark Horse Presents #1 writers/artists: Various So yeah, this was really, really rad. It starts with a pretty good Concrete story, “heads” to a strange Howard Chaykin story, and “leads” to a weird Neal Adams story. And that’s just the first 25 pages. AND THERE ARE 80 TOTAL. The Adams story is, of course, weird cuz’ he’s written it (oy vey.) There were also … Continue reading

Oh holy crap! We’ve already done ten of these? Can you believe it? My Top Five (The Five Best Comics of the Week) Batman Inc. #1 Writer: Grant Morrison Artist: Yanick Paquette Any comic that starts with the lines “Where are my hands?” and gets replied with “They are in Hell! Waiting for the Rest of you!” really is immediately sold to me. Let’s be real here folks, you knew I was going to like this. And dear God did I ever. It had basically everything I wanted right from the sweet JG Jones cover (not pictured). It was in … Continue reading

My Top Five (The Five Best Comics of the Week) Secret Avengers #5 Writer: Ed Brubaker Artists: Michael Lark and David Aja What do you do when your superstar artist takes an issue off? You bring in two of the sweetest possibly fill-in artists to come and do the job. Both Aja (Iron Fist) and Lark (Daredevil & Gotham Central) have worked with Brubaker before, and they pick up right where they left off in terms of quality.
