The Latest and (Mostly) Greatest #53 by Dan!

Oh man, bet you didn’t expect me to be back this soon, did you? Well here I am, so let’s do this! Mind MGMT #2 Writer/Artist: Matt Kindt This books makes my brain explode. You start with the cover’s hidden words, you read the story inside both covers, that hints at the ideas of the coming issue; you read the issue using the foreshadowing blue lines along the side, then you read the part of the second story that explains a bit more that might come around. THEN you read the letters page that shows more and the fake back … Continue reading

Another day another dollar, and there are lots of dollars worth of comics that came out this week. So let’s do this! Batman #7 Writer: Scott Snyder Artist: Greg Capullo This is the best comic of the DC reboot. It’s moving along at it’s own pace; it’s doing it’s own thing, and it’s completely accessible to a new reader. Oh!… and it’s totally awesome! This story seems to be crafted out of the previous Gates of Gotham series, but you don’t even have to read that to understand what’s going on. There’s a section that is almost exactly the same … Continue reading

All right folks, this is the first fifth week of the new 52. What does that mean? Well you’d think that smart marketing would put every single mini series out this week to fill the void, but no! We get two whole DC comics. And I’m not even sure I’m actually going to talk about them. Let’s do this! Haunt #19 Writer: Joe Casey Artist: Nathan Fox What a different two weeks makes! You change the team and drop all the crap and suddenly this is just a bizarre fun comic. Nathan Fox’s art is completely manic, with just so … Continue reading

The Latest and (Mostly) Greatest #19

Oh man, I’m getting way more efficient with this whole thing; look at how early these are done! My Top 5 (The 5 Best Comics of the Week) Batman Inc #4 Writer: Grant Morrison Artist: Chris Burnham You ever get tired of me worshiping this title? Well get over it. I’m not a huge fan of Paquette, the artist for the first three issues, but I love me some Chris Burnham. Take Frank Quitely. Mix him with Geof Darrow, and you get yourself some Burnham. It’s so freakin’ pretty to look at. Because we’re only four issues into Morrison’s “grand … Continue reading
