Phil’s Reviews: Stuff I Bought #209

Rachel Rising #3 — Writer/Artist: Terry Moore We’re still in “set up the mystery” mode, as the title character, having clawed her way out of a shallow grave, exhibits spooky precog powers and watches bad things happen to other people. There’s some kind of possession thing going on, and it’s all very well staged, and drawn very prettily too. Echo, Moore’s last effort, was remarkably well thought out, so I trust that the eventual explanation here will be a lot of fun, and involve a lot of action. With only four issues so far, readers still have time to get in … Continue reading

The Latest and (Mostly) Greatest #33 by Dan!

So we’re back in business, and now we’re taking on the number twos, which sounds weird to me, but I’m also a 12-year-old, so that makes it funnier. Criminal #4 Writer: Ed Brubaker Artist: Sean Phillips: Still awesome, end of the mini-series. Always worth it. PunisherMax #17 Writer: Jason Aaron Artist: Steve Dillon: Still awesome, … Continue reading

The Latest and (Mostly) Greatest #27

This was a pretty good week folks, full of hits and misses all over the place. So let us reel some of these out and judge them accordingly! Ultimate Fallout: Spider-Man No More #1 (of 6) Writer: Brian Michael Bendis Artist: Mark Bagley Ultimate Avengers vs. New Ultimates Writer: Mark Millar Artist: Leinil Yu/Stephen Segovia The Ultimate Universe has its fair share of problems, but every once in a while Bendis can write a sick comic, and that’s the case here. Everyone has their own character moment of reacting to the new Spider-Man; things get shaken up and “nothing will … Continue reading
