America’s Got Powers #1 (of 6) — Writer: Jonathan Ross;  Art: Bryan Hitch Ross is the former British talk-show host who’s a big comics geek, and has dabbled in writing them before (Turf, about Prohibition-era vampires, came out a year or two ago). Here, he’s snagged Bryan Hitch as artist, which helps his cause considerably. The comic itself is nakedly commercial: it’s a mashup of J. Avengers Vs. X-Men #0 — Writers: Brian Michael Bendis and Jason Aaron; Art: Frank Cho Bendis provides a Scarlet Witch story wherein Wanda (a) fights M.O.D.O.K., (b) talks to Carol Danvers, who convinces her to go to Avengers Mansion, and (c) actually goes to said mansion, wherein she meets the Vision (it’s a good idea to read Avengers #24.1 before this book, if you’re wondering what the Vision is doing there and why he acts the way he does), and things don’t go well. Dark Horse Presents #6 — Creators: Peter Hogan/Steve Parkhouse;  Carla Speed McNeil; Evan Dorkin/Jill Thompson;  Fabio Moon;  Neal Adams;  Howard Chaykin;  Andi Watson As always, this anthology delivers considerable quality for its $8 price, with stand-alone stories from Watson (Skeleton Key), Moon, and Dorkin/Thompson (their stellar Beasts of Burden) supply the meat, while chapters of ongoing serials from the others provide the side dishes — ten stories in all, 80 high-gloss pages of squarebound goodness, making this the Thanksgiving treat of the week. Fresh Eyes on Old Books #33 by Dan!

All right folks, I’m back. I’ve got nothing fancy to say and I don’t want to ramble. I’ll save that for the actual reviews. Let’s do this! Teen Titans #10 from 1967 So here’s my problem with the Teen Titans in a nutshell. This comic has them fighting a bully. Robin gets invited to participate in a motorcycle race in a ghost town (not kidding), but this one guy is a big jerk and tries to ruin the race. Ultimate Spider-Man #160 — Writer: Brian Michael Bendis;  Pencils: Mark Bagley; Inkers: Andy Lanning with Andrew Hennessy This comes in a bag, but considering the title it’s probably not a spoiler to say that, yes, there’s a death scene with the main character (of course, there was one in Superman #75, too, and we all know how that turned out, so…).
