Daredevil #17 — Writer: Mark Waid;  Art: Michael Allred Guest artist Allred puts this book at the top this week (although it doesn’t need a lot of help — the letters page mentions the three Eisner awards it won this year, for best writer, best continuing series and best single issue (#7), and also lists the great artists it’s had  — the Riveras, Marcos Martin and Chris Samnee — so it’s been doing just fine, thanks). Hello again! In case you didn’t read Phil’s reviews of the Avengers movie, long story short: He’s right, it’s awesome, go see it already. Batman #9 Writer: Scott Snyder Artist: Greg Capullo This is exactly what a crossover should be. Every story is tied into the main story, and so far every tie-in has been better because of the main story. This is probably the first time I can say that tie-ins actually work with this type of story. Game on folks, let’s make this quick! I have a baseball game to go see! The Boys #65 Writer: Garth Ennis Artist: Russ Braun Holy moses.. this comic! Ennis took about six pages to explain everything you needed to know about the situation between Hughie, Black Noir, Homelander and Butcher. Six pages! And it all made perfect sense; it made we want to re-read 64 other issues, and it basically blew me away. Not to mention the fact that Russ Braun has really made his mark on this title. All right, let’s do this! Hell Yeah #1 Writer: Joe Keatinge Artist: Andre Szymanowicz “Hell Yeah” is a strange comic. It’s got the traditional Image violence and shock value, but it’s blending it with what seems to be the “new direction” that the art from Image books has continued to do. Image has had a nice little relaunch here with the reboots of Prophet and Glory, and this book lines up with Thief of Thieves as another brand new entry into that direction.
