The Latest and (Mostly) Greatest #71 by Dan!

And we’re back! It was a light week here for comics, but some of these titles are definitely worth talking about. Let’s do this! Detective Comics Writers: John Layman & James Tynion IV Artists: Jay Fabok, Andy Clarke, Henrik Jonsson, Mikel Janin and Jason Masters All right, so while not actually being the 900th issue of Detective Comics (but we all totally know it is) this issue talks about “the 900”, a block in Gotham City that just so happens to get infected by Man-Bat serum and everything goes crazy in Gotham. It’s a surprisingly good issue, and that’s even … Continue reading

It Came From the Back Room #23

Standard recap: I’m slowly going through AABC’s one-million-plus back-issue room, restocking the boxes on the sales floor and pulling stuff to sell as discount/overstock/special items. Standard recap: I’m slowly going through AABC’s one-million-plus back-issue room, restocking the boxes on the sales floor and pulling stuff to sell as discount/overstock/special items. I’m going through the alphabet backwards (don’t ask), and at my speed (especially with the school year now in full gear), this amounts to a two-year project. I’m currently (and finally!) finishing the Marvel “M” stuff, and here’s the last title I’ve encountered: Marvel Comics Presents: MCP was started in mid-1988, and was a biweekly anthology series; it was likely a reaction to DC’s early-1988 move of Action Comics to a weekly anthology (no, kids, … Continue reading
