Phil’s Reviews: Stuff I Bought #351
Before we get to the reviews, let’s give a shout-out to DC this week: their new batch of alternative covers for their January issues involves a cool coloring-book-ready black-and-white style, perfect for both kids and adults to pick up some markers and try their hands at the profession of cartoon colorist; even if you’re the kind of fan who shudders at ruining a perfectly-collectable comic, you can always remove the special thicker-paper outer cover, because the book’s regular one is right underneath it — or, buy two copies, one to color and one to keep (then, encourage everyone else to … Continue reading

It’s mostly everybody attempting to perform an intervention on Henry McCoy, calling him to task for all his messing with the time-space continuum, after which he kind of stomps out. That’s basically it, but the various flashbacks and little set pieces play to Bendis’s dialogue and character strengths, and the division into small … Continue reading

The Astonishing Ant-Man #1 — Writer: Nick Spencer; Art: Ramon Rosanas; Colors: Jordan Boyd The Uncanny Inhumans #1 — Writer: Charles Soule; Pencils: Jay Leisten; Inks: Steve McNiven; Colors: Sunny Cho Karnak #1 — Writer: Warren Ellis; Art: Gerardo Zaffino; Colors: Dan Brown Marvel continues its reboot rollout with three new titles this week: Ant-Man has some imaginative ideas from Spencer — like a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who’s created an Uber-like app for supervillains: need a hero assassinated? It’ll find whoever’s closest and dispatch them to do the job, as Scott Lang finds out to his dismay. There’s a little … Continue reading
