Phil’s Reviews: Stuff I Bought #315

We’re halfway through with Convergence: this is the last week of “new” titles, with the second issues of all the two-part tie-ins starting next week. Let’s check them out, and then tackle the rest of the week’s offerings…. Convergence #4 (of 8) — Writer: Jeff King;  Pencils: Stephen Segovia;  Inks: Seven different guys;  Colors: John Starr with Peter Steigerwald The main title gets a lot more linear this issue, with an actual plot that begins to tie everything together: the Earth-2 heroes, fleeing Telos, have ended up in The Warlord’s dimension of Skartaris, where the evil wizard Deimos is trying … Continue reading

The Surface #1 — Writer: Ales Kot;  Art: Langdon Foss;  Colors: Jordie Bellaire Quite a few first issues again this week, with an interesting mix of sf, fantasy adventure and comedy. Phil’s Reviews: Stuff I Bought #300

We should probably note a couple of anniversaries this week: as you can see, this is my 300th “Stuff I Bought” review post; the first came out the week of January 5, 2007, which was when the AABC blog began — so that’s an eight-year anniversary for it, too. That very first review is no longer on the site (it had some kind of coding problem that was screwing things up, if I remember correctly, and had to be erased), but there’s a link to the second week’s reviews here.  If you’re wondering why it’s the 300th review but I’m … Continue reading
