Getting off My Duff #19
I never thought that early 1980’s comic books would ever seem like antiques to me, but after sorting and pricing several hundred books this week from that time period, I’ve changed my mind. Comic books that retailed for 50 cents to 75 cents are now THREE DECADES old! And I was a retailer back then selling them! Sheesh! Where’s my hearing aid and cane? The staff and I have priced a lot of beautiful NM books this week from the 7,000 or so I acquired a couple of weeks ago. As stated in earlier blogs, the majority of the books … Continue reading

Getting of My Duff #18
Hello Gang, God it throws me off to get the new shipment a day late! It’s arriving Thursday this week you guys, and we’re finally getting restocked with comic supplies! Lots of comic size boxes and bags and boards too! What’s wrong with the distribution chain of this channel we don’t know, but the inconsistency of it is annoying. So come in and stock up while the gettins’ good! The Professor spent the last two weeks sorting out Star Wars back issues in the backroom, and he’s come up with about 1,000 overstock issues! All the overstock is the current … Continue reading

So Alan has been completely inundated with collections the last couple of weeks so he asked me to fill in. Just to bring you up to date we’ve received approximately 8000 back issue comics in the last couple of weeks and have 2 more collections arriving in the next week or so. We just got in some really nice high end books as well as some lower grade Silver Age Marvel and DC comics and a large group of CGC books. Check out the next auction which begins tomorrow night for some of these gems including Amazing Spider-man #129 (which … Continue reading

So the Professor will be done with the act of pedagogy (that doesn’t sound right!) in the next week, and, never one for lethargy, he’ll be back for the summer sorting and pricing and needing room to add more back issues to the sales floor. Phil is always after me to add more back issue boxes. Isn’t 266 boxes with approximately 40,000 comic books on display enough? Quite simply, no it’s not. Which leads me to the deal of the week. As per norm, mention the blog this week and take 20% off your purchase from the selection of back … Continue reading

I’d like to thank one and all who took part in the annual International Free Comic Book Day this last Saturday on May 2nd. It was a fun day had by all, customer and retailer alike. Days like this legitimize and give credibility to the hobby that we all love. Marsha and I relish in it. Thank you as well to all of you who dropped off food donations for St. Mary’s Food Bank. We raised over 600 cans of food thanks to your generosity! Thank you for the support. Have a browse of the photos we took on FCBD … Continue reading
