All right folks, lots of stuff this week, so let’s do this! Age of Ultron #8 Writer: Brian Bendis Artist: Brandon Peterson I just can’t get into this. I can’t explain why, I’m a huge fan of time travel, I love the high-concept stories, and I want to like the entire idea behind this, but it just feels like Bendis is trying to push a redone version of House of M at us, and I can’t get into it. Add the fact that Peterson seems wickedly rushed making his faces look crazy, and that everything has been building to a … Continue reading

All right folks, we all survived Free Comic Book Day! That’s why this is a little bit late, but the quality will be as great as ever! I slept for 10 hours, so… Let’s do this! Hawkeye #10 Writer: Matt Fraction Artist: Francesco Francavilla: Guys, let’s be totally honest here. Did anyone think that I wouldn’t pick this as my book of the week? I am obsessed with Francavilla, and putting him on what is easily the best Marvel book coming out right now makes this an almost perfect issue of Hawkeye. After an upsetting secondary character death, Fraction rewinds … Continue reading

All right folks, this week I’m going to try to talk about a couple books I haven’t really said much about. Here’s hoping it won’t become a rambling mess. But don’t worry, I’ll still complain about Captain America near the end. Let’s do this! Cable and X-Force #6 Writer: Dennis Hopeless Artist: Salvador Larroca This book started a bit slowly, but seems to have really figured itself out. Most recently, Colossus had turned himself in after all that stuff with the Phoenix Force, so now the team hopes to break him out… or do they? Hopeless has put together a … Continue reading

And we’re back! It was a light week here for comics, but some of these titles are definitely worth talking about. Let’s do this! Detective Comics Writers: John Layman & James Tynion IV Artists: Jay Fabok, Andy Clarke, Henrik Jonsson, Mikel Janin and Jason Masters All right, so while not actually being the 900th issue of Detective Comics (but we all totally know it is) this issue talks about “the 900”, a block in Gotham City that just so happens to get infected by Man-Bat serum and everything goes crazy in Gotham. It’s a surprisingly good issue, and that’s even … Continue reading

All right folks, we’re here, let’s do this! Saga #11 Writer: Brian K Vaughan Artist: Fiona Staples So Saga is pretty awesome, but you knew that already, right? After last issue’s… maybe, upsetting character kill, this issue kicks you in the gut just as hard. Vaughan, as always, makes the reader care about his characters, to the point where the sci-fi weirdness is almost irrelevant. This is the kind of comic that’s accessible to anyone, it’s just really good stuff. Staples art style is something you have to get used to, but once you do, every little piece of effort … Continue reading
