Getting off My Duff #24

Thank you one and all for your monetary support at this year’s 4th of July sale! The comic distributor bills have been through the roof lately, so all sales are greatly appreciated. Hey, you could all do us a favor. Write to Marvel and tell them to keep their price points at $2.99 per book. Do those guys in New York know what a recession is????? As per the norm, we’re in the process of sorting another collection. Dan and I sorted and alphabetized approximately 6,000 books in the last two weeks, and I spent some of the holiday weekend … Continue reading

Getting off My Duff #22

So we’re going to get Dan “off his duff”, which he’s rarely on, to sort through another 25 boxes of comics we just picked up in the last two weeks. I always have Dan do the sorting because he’s fast and he really knows his comics! This newest batch of comics has a little Silver, a few more Bronze, and lots of Modern from 1980 to present. As per norm, you’ll see a lot of the last three decades of books priced as “sets” or “packets”, and the more collectible books will be priced individually. In case you haven’t checked … Continue reading

Phil-In – Reviews by AABC Staffer Dan- Stuff I Bought #126

All right folks! Deadlines and stuff have these posted way early! In other words, you’re welcome! Herogasm #2 (of 6) Writer: Garth Ennis Artist: John McCrea Well… that was a lot more nudity than last issue. The superhero perversion continues, and the hilarity ensues. Whether it’s farting brown gas, taking interestingly formed drugs, or just copping a feel, this mini-series has taken no prisoners. Hilarious dirty stuff, but what do you expect from the guys who brought you Hitman? Incognito #4 (of 6) Writer: Ed Brubaker Artist: Sean Philips Delays hurt this, but it’s still easily better than 75% of … Continue reading

Phil-In: Stuff I Read and Put Back: #126

More and more deadlines, so let’s chug a Pepsi and do this dance! Action Comics Annual #12 Writer: Greg Rucka Artist: Pere Perez Interesting layouts by Perez are the only thing that make this Annual interesting at all.  The confusing Nightwing/Flamebird-through-history-thing was weird, and a little too full of itself, in my opinion.  I quit reading this once, and then went back and finished it.  Bad choice, cause it really was not very good. Air # 10 Writer: G. Willow Wilson Artist: M.K. Perker Everytime I read this I find myself thinking “huh?”  The plot is fairly thin, but becomes … Continue reading

Getting off My Duff #21

Hello Everyone! So something out of the ordinary for new Wednesday comics this week! Marvel shipped us the new CAPTAIN AMERICA #600 TWO DAYS early this week, breaking the new Wednesday “street date” that they make every retailer normally adhere too. It’s all OK, because there’s been a lot of press covering the new “Reborn” storyline that will bring back, well, you know who, as the one and only CAP! It’s a beautiful looking book, so c’mon in and grab your copy before we sell out. (Fear not. There will be a 2nd print!) Speaking of out of the ordinary, … Continue reading
