GETTING OFF MY DUFF #53

Hey Gang,
I just wanted to thank everyone who’s shown interest in the stupendous collection of Golden Age we acquired last month. It’s been a wonderful rush to grade and price the books, and to be honest, a big plus monetarily for the store in a month that’s normally very slow sales wise. We have some killer auctions coming up in the next few weeks. Here’s a quick breakdown on some of the upcoming selections: DETECTIVE COMICS #164, MORE FUN COMICS #96, BATMAN #26, GREEN HORNET #14, and WORLD’S FINEST #14! And oh man, did I forget to tell you about the fantastic collection of Silver Age DC’s Phil and I purchased last week? I’m like a kid in a candy store, so I’ll try and curtail some of my enthusiasm! Some of the notables: a Fine- copy of BRAVE AND THE BOLD #34, featuring HAWKMAN, a run of FLASH #109-119, GREEN LANTERN #1 (!!!!), SHOWCASE #23 & #24, featuring early Silver Age GREEN LANTERN, and #30, with AQUAMAN. That’s just a few…many of these you’ll see in upcoming auctions too. And probably the most momentous book from the batch? WONDER WOMAN #105, a beater in Fair, yes, but listed as SCARCE in Overstreet, meaning there’s less than 100 copies left in existence! Alright Alan! Down boy, down.

Finally, we’re having a substantial shipment this week. New PREVIEWS and WIZARD are arriving, along with numerous BLACKEST NIGHT books. We’re actually receiving a very limited BLACKEST NIGHT #1 SKETCH VARIANT from DC, so it’s yours for the taking tomorrow at a reasonable price.

We just purchased three different collections of “pre-owned” action figures. A bin on the Central side of the store holds a big group of X-MEN toys, and a parking lot side bin holds a large group of SIMPSONS and assorted BATMAN figures. As usual, they’re priced to move quickly, so check ’em out soon for best selection.

And the DEAL OF THE WEEK……Buy any 2 FUNNY ANIMAL Golden Age Books and take 20% off! This deal applies only to the Funny Animal Titles and only if you mention the blog. This deal good through Tues. 2/2/10.

See you at the shop!
