GETTING OFF MY DUFF #52

Hello everyone,

I never thought I would have a day where I told my customers that I’m drowning in GOLDEN AGE comics books, but that’s been the case lately! Marsha and I just completed another big batch of books that now adorn the south wall above the new comic racks. There’s lots of “funny animal” type GA books here, with excellent interior artists like Carl Barks and Walt Kelly. It’s just been a pleasure bagging and pricing these gems. I should have the entire wall filled with these 1940’s treasures by Wednesday.

And our special “one week” only auction concludes this Wednesday, January 20th. There’s some incredible GOLDEN AGE selections in this batch you guys, so please take the next 48 hours to check it out. Also, we’re offering the BUY IT NOW feature on most of our in house auctions these last few months. Comments from our loyal customer base have been positive, and, uh… at times, not so positive. We’re attempting to be as fair as we can to all of you when great books go up on the auction block, so if you have an opinion either way on this issue, I’m all ears.

This week, we’ll return to our regular TWO WEEK auctions, and what a selection we have for you! This lot includes: ALL-STAR COMICS #21 from 1944, CAPTAIN MARVEL #21 from 1943, DETECTIVE COMICS #73 from 1943, featuring the first SCARECROW villain cover, LEADING COMICS #5, with an early GA appearance of GREEN ARROW, SENSATION COMICS #46 from 1945, with a great WONDER WOMAN cover, and an absolutely cool WHIZ COMICS #49, with a “squash the Nazis” type cover! Just stunning comic books you guys, ones we do not acquire that often.

This latest acquisition of 1940’s comics seems to have taken precedence over all other collections surfacing lately, so let’s give some credence to later decades of comics just obtained. There’s approximately eight hundred 1960’s and 70’s books on display across from the back parking lot register, all reasonably priced. There’s a really nice selection of AVENGERS and SPIDERMAN in this batch. And on the back north wall in the ‘”Professor’s corner” (that’s where Phil sits and prices back room stock), there’s a wonderful inexpensive selection of DC’s from the 1963 to 1967 era.

As you can see, I’m drowning in great stock here my fellow collectors, so c’mon in and deal with the Bald One. And without further ado, here’s Marsha with this week’s “Deal of the Week”….

Hey all, we need to make room for another huge modern collection that awaits sorting and pricing. There will be tons of new packets added once it has been sorted (after the Golden Age pricing and grading is finished) so we need to make room now. This week’s DEAL OF THE WEEK is 20% off any packet priced at $19.95 or more and 25% off any packet priced at $49.95 or more. Check out the goodies in the “Tower of Massive Packets” corner as there are some great finds there! This offer valid 1/19 through 1/26.

See you at the shop!
