Hello everyone! Marsha has been handling blog duties the last few weeks, so it goes without saying, I need to…GET OFF MY DUFF with this 50th post! For all of you who know me, I’m not lazy. Actually, I’m a bit hyper. And I’m especially hyper this week, cuz I’ve picked up some really cool stuff this week to share with you! I live for Silver Age comics, and a great selection of 160 SA DC’s filtered in last Wednesday to make my day. All my favorites are included here, i.e., DETECTIVE COMICS, FLASH, GREEN LANTERN, etc. I’ll be done pricing them by Wednesday, so please ask to see them when you come in for new books this week.
To really make my day, and the Professor’s, about an hour after the Silver Age seller came in, a gentleman selling “Golden Age” entered the store, with 650 1940’s era comic books to sell! Quick, where’s my heart medicine! An absolutely killer assortment, one we see maybe every two decades! About 25% of the lot is in the super-hero genre, from BATMAN to WONDER WOMAN, but there’s a wonderful assortment of early DISNEY and Dell FOUR COLORS! Just a treasure trove you guys and gals! WWII era books are becoming increasingly much harder to find, particularly those from an ORIGINAL OWNER, so this collection is really a thing of beauty. You can view a small selection of them now on ebay under seller AMGIROUX. Don’t worry, though, the vast majority of these will not be eBay bound, even though this is the only comic book era that sells on eBay these days! Stay tuned as the books will be coming to the store soon!
And just for the hell of it, I picked up approximately 4,800 books from the 1980’s and 90’s today, just to increase my work load. Actually, comics from this era make great “packets” or “sets”, if you will. Lots of “Indies” in this batch, so holler if you’re looking for early VALIANT, IMAGE, or…MALIBU, anyone?
And the deal of the week? Check out the selection of overstock in the 12 boxes of comics in the white tables near the parking lot side. They are “Buy 10 get 5 FREE”, but if you mention the blog, they are Buy 10 GET 10 FREE! Marvel, DC, Wildstorm and Image are some of the publishers offered. This deal valid through Tuesday 1/12/10.
