Getting off My Duff #42 by Marsha

Hi Everybody,

There is a lot to tell you about this week so without further ado………

Great comics fall in your lap when you least expect it.  We just picked up some nice key books including X-men #94 VF/VF+ 8.5 $695.00, DD #1 G+ $395.00 and X-men #1 G+ (at a special discount, come in to see), DD #7 with Submariner and a near complete run of late 1960’s Steranko and Adams X-men issues. Alan is grading and pricing them as quickly as he can and the majority will be out on display by tomorrow.
Also, the box from our Florida DC collector finally arrived. It included a group of mid-1960’s DC comics with a few 10 centers including Superman, Blackhawk, JLA, Green Lantern etc.  Alan has them priced and at the store. A few of the earliest gems were already purchased on Monday so come in soon for best selection! Another smaller DC lot came in yesterday and was  added to this group as well.  Silver Age DC lovers will love this stuff.

And a near consecutive run of Mad Magazine from 1957-1966, at affordable prices, is now up on the south wall, to the left of the red neon comics sign near the front half of the store.  The advertisements and parodies make for an interesting insight into American culture and politics in this time period. (Okay, so we had a lot of fun reading some of these books while pricing them:)  They really are classics and bring you back.  The ads alone are worth the cost of the book!  If you watch MAD MEN and love the 1960’s set designs and news of that time, you will love a look at these MAD magazines:)

Since I mentioned TV I will give another shout out to our son, Ben. This is just a reminder that he will be on FOX’s HOUSE next Monday, November 16th for those of you who want to tune in.

IMPORTANT NOTICE regarding this weeks new comic shipment.  If you are not aware, please note that the Veteran’s Day Parade on Wednesday goes right in front of our store! Tomorrow we will be getting our NEW COMICS SHIPMENT ON TIME!  Please be aware that Central and Camelback will both be closed to traffic until the parade ends at 1 PM.  We will be open our regular hours. If you don’t want to deal with parade traffic all streets will be open and back to normal by 2PM, so come in after 2. We are open until 8PM. If  you want to come in early you can still easily get to the store by taking the back west route in from 7th Ave and Missouri. Come south on 7th Ave from Glendale or North from Thomas to Missouri. Head east on Missouri (it is legal to go through the parking barriers for local traffic as we are considered local traffic). Turn right, heading south at 3rd Ave to Pasadena. Left on Pasadena brings you to our back parking lot.  Once the parade is going it is actually really easy to navigate these back streets. And you are welcome to watch the parade from in front of our store and support our veterans!

The entire holiday schedule is up on the main page of our website for your convenience.

Two more of the Lantern Rings ship this week!  If you purchase Booster Gold #26  you receive a free orange ring. If you purchase Rebels #10, you get the Indigo ring. Be sure to ask for your rings when checking out!
